VISION
Acceptance and Inclusivity
Donner is a community that embodies acceptance, one in which everyone can come as they are and feel safe and cared about.
Approachability
Donner residents should feel comfortable speaking to each and every member of our housing community. Flash the D, do the Donner grip, and have a nice time talking to someone you always recognized but may not have spoken with before.
Floor
Interconnectedness |
It is important for there to be interactions between floors. Historically, people get really close with members of their own floor. However, Donner also has a unique lounge culture surrounding the common spaces in the building.
Opportunity
Many of the opportunities during freshman year stem from residential life, which then acts as a springboard to other opportunities on campus. All of you are encouraged to take advantage of every opportunity, both inside and outside of Donner House.
Challenging and Simulating
Carnegie Mellon, as a world class institution, offers many exciting opportunities to its students. Here in Donner, we want to provide an environment where students are free to explore and unlock their passions, to push themselves into the "yellow zone" and find what truly excites them. Through various events and programs, we hope to expose and connect residents to such engagements.
Community and Family
Every person in Donner will make lasting connections and find a close group of friends, a family away from home that can support them through hard times, cheer them on toward their goals and help them learn and grow as a person.
