HOUSEFELLOW
Kumail Lassi | Housefellow
[email protected]
A Housefellow (HF) is a seasoned, full-time staff member in the Division of Student Affairs who oversees a residential community and serves as the primary advocate and advisor for the students living within it. This will be my 1st year at CMU and I’m very excited to get to know all of you and help you define your experience at CMU. In addition to serving as a HF, I work on the Residential Curriculum created by the Office of Residential Education.
I grew up in Orlando, Florida wanting to be a teacher or a scientist. I ended up moving to Michigan where I completed my B.S. in Biology as well as my Master’s of Education, so I like to think I’m doing a little of both. I am a huge basketball fan, and because I grew up in Orlando, I follow the Orlando Magic closely. I also really enjoy reading fiction, watching movies and TV shows, eating, and playing video and board games.

COMMUNITY ADVISOR
Jack Dangremond | Community Advisor

Hello fellow Donneroos! My name is Jack, and I'm your Community Advisor (CA) this year! The CA is in charge of developing the vision for the house and for hiring and overseeing the RA staff. Additionally, I help Kumail manage the operational aspects of Donner while enforcing community standards and offering opportunities to promote personal growth of both the RAs and the residents. Essentially, I want to make sure everyone feels welcome in Donner and make it feel like home!
This year, I will be a senior majoring in Electrical & Computer Engineering. I am a Colorado native, born and raised in Colorado Springs. While I miss the hiking, climbing, and beautiful scenery Colorado offers, I think Pittsburgh is a pretty awesome city and I hope to share my love for exploring it with all of you. I have been competitively swimming since I was five, and was a sprinter on the varsity team here up until my sophomore year. This past year, I started CMU Club Swimming so that more students can get involved in a sport that I have loved my whole life. When I'm not busy with everything else, I enjoy just kicking back and listening to good music. In fact, I hope to eventually take everything I learn at CMU and design audio equipment. I lived in Donner my freshman year, was an RA in Donner the past two years, and I'm extra excited to be back again for a fourth year as the CA. I can't wait to get to know all of you, our Big Blue family!

Hey everybody! I’m Brandon, and I’m pleased to serve as part of the Donner staff this year! I am a sophomore studying Computer Science, and I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, where it can get pretty snowy just like Pittsburgh. I really enjoy getting involved in activities around campus! I swam for the varsity team last year and currently have plans to continue. I also performed in a capella a few times, as singing is a low-key hobby of mine. I am involved in Greek life on campus, and I especially love spending time with friends and hanging out all around CMU! This university is full of students hailing from every walk of life, pursuing a huge variety of majors, and dreaming the biggest. I am excited to welcome those of you who will compose the 2018-2019 Donner Community! I lived in Morewood E-Tower last year, but I did get to spend a sizable chunk of time hanging out with friends in Donner. I hope we get to share some awesome experiences together in our big blue community!

Hey there, Donneroos!!! I’m Quincy. You can call me Q, Quin, Quince, Quincifer, Schoolboy Q, Q-Tip, Quincius Maximus Primus, whatever floats your boat. This coming year, I'm going to be a junior majoring in Mechanical Engineering. An actor at heart, I am heavily involved in CMU’s theatre group Scotch’n’Soda. I was born in Toronto, Ontario and I’ve lived in Los Angeles for most of my life. Proudly hailing from The True North, both sides of my family actually come straight from Jamaica. Although I always come home looking incredibly pale after a year in Pittsburgh, I must say I love the city and the beauty it has through each season. Although many see the weather as rather crazy and all over the place, I find it to be a nice change of pace from the consistent 80 degree weather we have year round in LA. Pittsburgh definitely has a lot to offer and I’m excited to discover it all with you. Donner was my home freshman year and it completely shaped my college experience. The amount of pride that comes with this community creates a family and I can truly say, to date, I think my freshman year may have been the best year of my life. I hope we can give the same thing to you. I can’t wait to meet you all in the fall! See ya soon!

What’s up Big Blue!? My name is Carl Young and I’m a rising sophomore! I really enjoy further understanding the human body and how we can apply mechanical studies to it, so I decided I would double major in Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering. I am currently involved with the football team, the track team, and Sigma Phi Epsilon on campus. Spikeball is a huge passion of mine and I’d love to play at any given moment with anyone. I’m really excited to be back in Donner as an RA because there is a vibe like no other within these walls. That to me is very special and it’s what allowed me to meet some of my very best friends. I can only hope for the same successes and more for each one of you!

Hello incoming Donneroos! My name is Zeja and I'm a rising sophomore in Art, with an additional major in Creative Writing. I grew up in Atlanta, GA, but originally hail from Philadelphia, PA. I lived in Pittsburgh for a little while when I was younger, and the Northeastern winters are still as cold as I remember. As a former Three East resident, I'm super excited to rep Big Blue again. I love horror movies, cartoons, and playing the bass drum in our (undefeated!) Kiltie Band. Donner is home. Donner is nice. And I can't wait to share it with you all!

Hey guys! My name is Kameron, and I am a fifth year senior majoring in Chemical Engineering. I realized I’m not particularly fond of Chemical Engineering, so I decided to stay an extra year and pick up minors in Biomedical Engineering and Business Administration to gain a background in other interests of mine. On campus, I am the treasurer of SPIRIT, I have served in Student Government, and I carry my team to an intramural basketball championship every year. This will be my second time serving as an RA in Donner, the first time being this summer for the Summer Academy for Math and Science (SAMS) for high school seniors. For personal hobbies, I try to lead a healthy lifestyle and stay in shape, but chocolate and food in general is my kryptonite. I am also always open to learning about different financial markets. Now that most of my friends and classmates have graduated, I’m excited to witness the circle of (CMU) life with all of you beginning your college journeys.

Hello everyone! My name is Makayla Filiere and I am a junior in Tepper, double majoring in Business Administration and Statistics. I’m from Chandler, Arizona (yes, the Pittsburgh cold is still very freezing to me!) and I am so excited to welcome you into Donner this year! On campus, I am a captain on the women’s basketball team, a member of the Student-Athletic Advisory Council, involved with Lambda Sigma, the Western PA Special Olympics Planning Committee, and a pusher for SDC Buggy during our Carnival in the spring. I am extremely passionate about service and giving back to the wonderful community we live in! I am currently studying abroad in Sydney, Australia and loving every second of it, but I can’t wait to come back to Pittsburgh and meet you all!

Hi y’all! My name is Hannah Daniel and I’m a rising sophomore studying Biology here at CMU. I hail from Harrisonburg, Virginia in the beautiful Shenandoah valley. On campus, I a part of Dancer’s Symposium, Taiwanese Student Association, and The Cut music magazine (and I’d be happy to talk about any of them at length). In my free time, I like watching sitcoms, reading books, and exploring restaurants around Pittsburgh. I lived in Donner last year on the other side of the hall, so I’m really excited for the change of scenery! My favorite part of CMU has been the people I’ve gotten to meet, so I’m really excited to meet you all soon and welcome you to Donner!
